Texas Tommy

Open, Closed

Alternate Names

The Texas Tommy is a variation on the Swingout where the follow's right arm passes behind their back half way through the move, resulting in an unwinding outside turn at the end.

Texas Tommy can be transitioned into from closed or open position, and out of to basically any open position move, but lends itself to transitions to moves led with a rotational rock step as the follow will already be turning by the end.

Count Breakdown

Uses the same basic shape as the Swingout, the only difference being that around count 4, the lead will pass the follow's right arm behind their back and catch it with their right. The rest of the move is effectively the same, but the right arm behind the back will force the follow to unwind into an outside turn sometime in counts 5-8.
